Haganah soldier in the village of Kastel on April 5, 1948. In April 1948, Haganah lead Operation Nachshon with the purpose of opening the Tel-Aviv Jerusalem road. The village of Kastel was occuying a strategic place on this road in the area of Jerusalem.
