Los Angeles Times Book Prize
Le Los Angeles Times Book Prize est une série de prix littéraires attribués annuellement à certains livres par le Los Angeles Times depuis 1980. Ces prix « sont répartis en neuf catégories de titre unique : biographie, actualité, fiction, première fiction (le Art Seidenbaum Award ajouté en 1991), Histoire, roman policer/thriller (catégorie ajoutée en 2000), poésie, science et technologie (catégorie ajoutée en 1989), et fiction pour la jeunesse (catégorie ajoutée en 1998). En outre, le Robert Kirsch Award est décerné chaque année à un auteur vivant ayant un lien important avec l'Ouest américain, dont la contribution aux lettres américaines mérite une reconnaissance particulière »[1].
Ce programme de prix littéraires a été fondé par Art Seidenbaum, un éditeur du Times Book de 1978 à 1985. Le prix portant son nom a été ajouté un an après sa mort, en 1990. Les travaux sont admissibles au cours de l'année de leur première publication en anglais aux États-Unis, bien que l'anglais n'ait pas nécessairement à être la langue d'origine de l'œuvre. L'auteur de chaque livre récompensé reçoit une citation et 1 000 dollars.
